Huo Shan Huang Ya is a rare Yellow Tea coming from Anhui Province. It is made of tender slim buds and processed by a traditional stir-fire procedure which is why it has the name “Yellow Buds” (Huang Ya).

Huo Shan Huagn Ya was created in the Tany Dynasty and Lu Yu, the sage of Tea, described this special yellow tea in his famous Classic of Tea (Cha Jing).

The processing method of this tea was lost in 1940s and was only reproduced in 1972 by three distinguished tea masters.

To keep if fresh, the leaves are picked in the morning in spring and processed using five involved steps. All the work has to be finished by the evening of the same day.

Huo Shan Huang Ya is only slightly processed in the yellow tea category and it resembles green tea in both quality and taste.

The leaves are straight and long that suggest a form of flower of sparrow tongue.

The leaf color is yellowish green with fine hairs covering the buds.

Brewing Guide: We recommend using glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Use about 2 grams of tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.
